Location
We are located in the small town of Egham, Surrey close to historic Runnymede, Windsor and the River Thames and adjacent to Jct 13 of the M25 motorway which is midway between the M3 and M4 interchanges. The M40 interchange is 15 minutes from the shop as is Heathrow Airport. Egham mainline station is a 5 minute walk with trains to London Waterloo taking 40 minutes. Change at Richmond for the London Underground.

About
I trained at the Newark School of Violin Making from 1974 to 1977.After graduating I spent the following 5 years working as a repairer and restorer at Edward Withers Ltd, London with the late Dietrich Kessler, one of London's most respected and experienced violin makers. After setting up my own workshop at home I worked for many years for dealers and private customers before opening my shop in Egham in 2004.

With 30 years experience in all aspects of the violin trade I can meet the needs of string players of all standards. Clients range from students and teachers to members of many of the top national orchestras including The Orchestra of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, LSO, London Mozart Players, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and international dealers and experts.From a routine bow rehair or instrument overhaul to major restoration we offer a prompt and professional service. I work to fixed quotations and all work is guaranteed. The aim is to offer the highest standards of service to all customers to enable them to get the very best possible performance from their instrument and bow.
Sales
We stock instruments and bows for all abilities. Violin, viola & cello outfits start at approximately £325, violin, £ 1200, cello. These instruments are prepared in our workshops and offer an affordable introduction to violin playing. Available in all sizes.For the progressing player we have a wide range of individual instruments and bows to suit most budgets, including a good selection of the French and German schools of the late 19th and early 20th century. Please enquire directly for further details. Instruments and bows can be tried in our practice room and taken away on approval.

Our comprehensive range of violin strings, viola strings, cello strings, cases, shoulder rests, chinrests etc. is available online at TheStringZone.co.uk and of course to personal callers. If there is a particular item you are looking for please give us a call. If we don't have it we can probably obtain it.
